Project Overview

The international nonprofit Men Having Babies (MHB) is dedicated to providing gay men with educational and financial support to achieve parenthood through surrogacy.

When we first met MHB, they were considering a transition from Neon CRM to Salesforce's NPSP module. Their current process for grant management included using Alchemer forms and Neon CRM. This solution resulted in significant re-work, manual workflows and dependencies on internal staff to process grant applications.

We were able to assist in migrating CRM data, implementing a streamlined grants and donor management process, configuring a program management process and developing a digital panelist review process within Salesforce NPSP.

Project Execution

We re-imagined the operational experience with MHB.

Together, we:

  • Migrated historical information for all constituencies from Neon CRM
  • Re-formatted the data and imported to Salesforce NPSP, while preserving relational data
  • Configured a data intake method via Formstack
  • Implemented payment processing for donations with Stripe
  • Developed an email notification workflow to inform eligible applicants of their application status
  • Created a panelist adjudication process with anonymized grant application information

Project Results

Men Having Babies was able to automate their full-cycle grant application, adjudication, donation and constituent management process.

This enabled internal operations, marketing and finance teams to greatly reduce time processing applications.

What this meant for MHB:

  • Reduced time spent processing applications by 75%
  • Reduced payment processing time on new applications by 30%
  • Reduced data re-entry by 80%
  • Provided clarity into applications in progress by grant applicants
